Did everybody love Jesus? Jesus said in John 7:7 "The world can't hate you but it HATES Me, because I testify of it, that it's deeds are evil". The populous hated Jesus; the one's that followed Him were just a few and those that wanted to eat. Now Jesus was speaking to His disciples before they began their ministries and were filled with the Holy Spirit on Pentecost; but once they were given their ministries the world hated them too.
Again in John 17:20 Jesus said "A servant isn't above his master, if they hate his Master they will hate him". And in Like 21:7 Jesus said "you will be hated by all on My account". And hate them they did. Jesus was murdered along with 11 of His 12 apostles.We see in the book of Acts that the apostles as did Jesus testified of the evil deeds of the world and they were not well received! So as it turns out the real "haters" are not us but the professing Christians and other students!
Any evangelist that is not persecuted by the world is not doing the will of God. The bible tells us that those who live holy will suffer persecution. Unfortunately we have the Mega Churches and the Seeker Friendly Movement and the "Friendship Evangelism" All of which is anti-Christ.
Read the book of Acts and the Gospels and find out firsthand how confrontational Jesus and the 12 really were.WWJD: Read the first 4 chapters of Revelation - His last words to the church were a rebuke for becoming worldly and wanting to cozy up to the sinners...the same message as He would give to today's church. If you don't have the desire to read the entire book at least read the sermons of the apostles: Acts 2:38, 3:19, 3:26, 17:30, 20:21, 26:20. In Acts Paul was speaking to Felix about the judgement to come, self control and righteousness, this is a lot more than "Christ crucified".
